The Perfect Pairing of Practical Experience and Science
intelliAd Media GmbH was founded in February 2007 by Mischa Rürup and Tobias Kiessling both of whom studied information technology at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, laying there the foundation stone of their present-day business. The idea of developing highly-efficient Bid Management software arose out of practical experience. Both founders came in the course of their consultative capacities in the fields of search engine marketing (SEM) to the recognition that complex algorithms were required to operate pay-per-click campaigns in an efficient manner. With the aid of their IT backgrounds and various collaborations – including work with the marketing faculty of Yale University – they have over recent years been able to develop the Bid Management algorithm, which is now at the very heart of the intelliAd platform, into one of the most powerful systems in the whole sector.
intelliAd has now developed into the leading software for the optimization of all online channels. It permits the evaluation of click and conversion chains across the different channels of display, e-mail, affiliates, social media and SEO and their direct use in the optimization of PPC campaigns. The aim of all this is to allow the marketing budget to be used in the most effective way possible. In addition, numerous features guarantee highly efficient Campaign Management – these include the automatic processing of product lists to PPC campaigns or automated search engine optimization.
Investors with Real Financial Clout
In April 2009, the venture capital firms IMPERA Total Return AG and Corporate Founders Fund bought into intelliAd. The three managing directors, also stakeholders, were joined in 2009 by Wolfhart Fröhlich.

intelliAd sees itself as an independent technology provider for agencies and direct clients. Agencies can use intelliAd technology to manage several thousand client accounts with an unlimited number of keywords. intelliAd encourages the active participation of agencies and direct clients in product development and implements their requirements in respect of usability and individualisation. In this way the product portfolio is continuously supplemented by new products arising out of practical experience.
intelliAd’s interfaces, e.g. to Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, Facebook, Google Shopping, Webtrekk, etracker, Searchmetrics or Criteo, guarantee its multi-functional use.
